Put It In A Love Song

So the two leading ladies of R&B/POP Alicia Keys and Beyonce has joined forces for Alicia Keys upcoming album, "The Element of Freedom" with a song called, Put It In A Love Song. My first reaction to the song is, why the mediocracy? It's definitely not as timeless or classic as The Boy Is Mine by Monica and Brandy.

Epic Fail

Oh no, one of my favorite singers from the 90's, Brandy has been dropped from Epic Records according to BV . She was drop by her label Epic Records because of the lackluster sales of only selling 196,509 units from her comeback CD, 'Human. Brandy has also parted ways with her management Roc Nation, Jay Z's management team because of "creative differences. " The publicist Jana Fleishman says, "Roc Nation no longer reps Brandy" They are also reporting that she's searching for a new label.

Brandy is denying that she's been dropped from the label. She went to Twitter and tweeted this:

4everBrandy#notagoodlook when so called journalist spread false rumors without the facts:) Don't believe everything you read or see!

I Would Never!

HOW do you fucking go off like that for some lip-synching nonsense? I mean, seriously? I love me some Brandy and lawd, he's a big grown ass man acting like a little girl over some pre-recorded track that is NOT even poppin to that extent. If I didn't know better, I'd say it was staged. He's giving eeeeeeeeeeeextra. Ugh, do I miss the ol Brandy when she would sing live.. Come on you are from the 90's when talent mattered! Get back to singing like this..

The Boy Is Mine 10 Years Later

Last night in Atlanta Brandy had a show and Monica showed up to show support. These two ladies R&B Teen Queen's re-united and performed a snippet of The Boy Is Mine live. I am getting my life from this! Check out this video below of producers Rodney Jerkins speaking on Brandy and Monica working in the studio on The Boy Is Mine.

Album Review: Brandy "Human"

Brandy is hoping to make a huge comeback with her new album, Human slated to hit stores Dec. 9th This release is a heartfelt one for Brandy.

“Human is my most personal album to date,” said Brandy. “I have grown so much since my last album. Being able to express myself & my journey through my music is a feeling I can’t describe. With this new chapter of my life it feels good to have Rodney (producer), a familiar face, by my side again. He brings out emotions in me like nobody else.”

The album opens up with an Interlude of Brandy giving her definition of what it is to be Human. The Definition, is about an emotional painful world as her haunting voice with great effectiveness showcases a person who has felt pain. One of my favorite tunes on the album, Camouflage is a heart-warming song about insight to the own persona and its flaws. The album title track Human is a classic ballad with a flowing guitar riff that sets up the lyrical hook. The ending where Brandy follows the song into a key higher gives me chills. Another favorite tune of mine from the album is "Piano Man," where she pays homage to her producer Rodney Jerkins by singing, “Play me a song about heartache, I promise I can sing every word…” And she does just that with her soft voice over the scattered parts of computer-synthesizer that makes it interesting to listen to. Her current single "Long Distance" is about being in a difficult relationship with a lover who is far away. "1st and Love" takes us on a roller-coaster journey about instant love and attraction.

Human is a great album from Brandy. Longtime fans will enjoy her reliably soulful harmonies and excellent vocal production. Human hits stores Dec. 9th!

Brandy's "Long Distance" Video

Here is Brandy's new video "Long Distance" from her upcoming release album Human which will hit stores on Dec 9th. I absolutely love the video and song. I wished she would've taken advantage of the current state our world is in at the moment for this video by using troops that are at war with their loved ones stuck at home.

Brandy to duet with Beyonce and Monica?

While doing her promotional radio tour for her new album "Human" which is slated to hit stores Nov. 11th she stopped in Indiana to attend a Q&A function. The crowd didn't respond too well to Brandy's pressence and latered warmed up to her. It was so sad to see that they weren't too interested in her new project. She mentioned that she would love to do another duet with Monica and she dreams to do a duet with Beyonce.

A Classic Hit: The Boy Is Mine Brandy and Monica

Let's go back 10 years ago. So let's take two female R&B-pop teen idols rumored to be rivals since their debuts a year apart from each other, and pair them up in a catty duet and you have Brandy & Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine,” an automatic chart topper that has fans in as frenzy as to who was truly the best diva during it’s eighteen week hot 100 domination in the summer of 98’ which gave them their first Grammy.

In one corner you have Brandy who seems like she’s never been in a single fight of her life but she’s seems ready to break a nail after confronting a chick that is supposedly trying to make moves on the love of her life. In the other corner you have Monica, a sassy Southern belle with a fierce lip and amazing chops who already snatched off her earrings, face covered up in Vaseline ready to take care of the bubbly Brandy who’s reportedly trying to steal her man.

Instead of pulling together to confront the two timing dog, the two argued as they should for the love of their life in a foolish back and forth vocal fight straight out of high school hallways. “The Boy Is Mine” definitely lived up to the hype of these two being at odds with one another. It topped charts around the world and was certified Double Platinum in the United States, the biggest single ever for both Brandy and Monica. I remember seeing the video everywhere that summer, I heard it all the time on the radio every hour of the hour. I remember my friend and I would always pretend that we were these two young ladies when the song came on, recite it word for word and put on a dramatic spat as they did on the video.

Fast forward to 2008 and where are these ladies? Both are now mothers and are not too worried about being on top of the Pop Charts any longer. Brandy is hoping to make a strong comeback with her single, “Departed” from new album “Human” slated to hit stores on Nov. 11. Monica on the other hand is still hard at work with album titled “Still Standing” which is due early Jan 09. These two ladies will always be on my top list of to get albums whenever they drop because they never disappoint and I'm a fan of both of them.

Can these two ladies rule the pop chart again? We’ll see……
